Dear parents, players and coaches,
Recently the East Islip Soccer Club announced a partnership with Slammers FC. We entered into this agreement for a number of reasons, some of which are detailed below.
Provide a pathway for some players age U13 and above, who are able to play on a higher level team than what is currently offered within our club, to play on those higher level teams while also playing for the East Islip Soccer Club at the same time
Add new training curriculum to our already successful academy
Additional training sessions from Slammers trainers
College recruitment resources
Access to fundraising assistance, improved marketing/social media presence
Partner with one of the top youth soccer organizations in the country
Smithtown Soccer Club and Sachem Soccer Club have also entered into this partnership with Slammers, and together we will be able to offer opportunities to try out and play on teams formed from the best players from each club.
These opportunities are OPTIONAL – no players are being mandated to play on these teams.
Again, these are opportunities for players able to play soccer at a high level, possibly even on teams playing at the national level, which would not be possible from within our club. By partnering with Slammers, Smithtown Soccer Club and Sachem Soccer Club, we are able to pool our resources to form teams to compete with some of the best academies in our region. These teams will also have opportunities to play in tournaments that are currently out of reach for most of our travel teams.
I cannot stress this enough, but we are simply trying to provide options for some of our players who want to play on teams at a higher level of play. No one is being forced to play for any of the teams formed by this partnership.
All of our teams will remain intact – nothing changes from what we are currently doing with regard to travel and inter league teams.
At U13 and above, if a player wants to try out for one of the pathway teams, he or she will be provided with the opportunity to do so. If that player makes the team, he or she will be able to play on both the Slammers team as well as their current club team. By providing this pathway, we are providing a place for those players who would be looking outside of our club for those opportunities to continue to play for their current club teams, remain in the community and play with their friends.
This partnership gives us the opportunity to work with one of the best youth soccer organizations in the country. Slammers FC excels at producing players from both the girls and boys side to play at every level of youth and college soccer, and has seen many national team players come from their academy.
We are confident that this partnership will make us stronger as a club, enabling players to have opportunities that will benefit them as well as the club as a whole. The East Islip Soccer Club prides itself on being a strong community based organization. Ronan has done a phenomenal job in bringing academy soccer to our club. He has done a great job of improving the level of play and works hard to make sure all travel teams not only stay together, but grow and become stronger as they move up. This partnership will only enhance what he has been able to develop here.
I would encourage everyone to check out the Slammers FC website:

I think you will see that we are partnering with a club with a proven track record of success.
I know that there are many questions which need to be addressed. We will be scheduling a meeting for all to come and listen and ask questions. We would like to have this meeting within the next week.
We will let you all know when and where as soon as we confirm the date and location.
In closing, please be assured that there will not be any changes to your current teams, trainers or team admins. NOTHING CHANGES.
Going forward, we will provide information to you with regard to any opportunities available to those who want to avail themselves of them.
Look forward to meeting with you all in the coming week.

President
